Makarov pistols?

Help me out here. I want to buy a Makarov. How do I find a good one?? I see people referring to them as eitehr a Russian, or a Bulgarian, etc, etc. When someone says "bulgarian makarov"..what is that? Made in Bulgaria obviously, but are they not differentiated by a particular manufacturer? As i understand, the Makarov design is superb and they are reliable guns. I'm looking to spend around $250 on one. Any recommendations?
