Can someone please rehrase this paragraph please ?

Babies gather information from senses during the sensorimotor period. The information is remembered as seperate pieces of information. Within time, however, the baby has learnt enough and is old enough to begin making connections between bits of information, like the sight of his mother and the smell of his mother and the taste of her milk. These connections allow the baby to understand what goes on around him.
