Was this awkward?????????????

The guy I like is one of my really good friends and I always tease him and he teases me back. Lat night I was bored so I went to face in hole and make some pictures for all of my friends. I made one with the tellietubbies for a laugh and put him as the big one cause he is tall and my other friends as the other ones. When I sent this to him he said " You think I am fat " - me " No I think your obese jk you are skinny" and he said " I need to put on weight" and I told him "You are fine the way you are" Was this an awkward thing to say? He was joking about the being fat part. This was not a situation where I thought -"what can i say to sound flirtatious" but it is just an automatic responce when friends have doubt or joke about it. So I guess I feel really comfortable with him.
