Why be a fanatic or a skeptic, why be an extremist?

Most of your extremists are weak minded people who need to believe in something so strong that they're willing to give their lives for it. It sounds nice and good, but it borderlines insanity. The most basic human instinct is survival. The weak mind of many fanatics is due to their ignorance. Many extremists were also held under tight riens as a child, depriving them of the chance to learn and grow. When they got older and began to venture out they had no way to deal with it. Their minds were thrown into confusion and chaos, so they retaliated against the things they did not understand.
